Wilderness Trail Kentucky Straight High Rye Bourbon embodies our commitment to pushing the boundaries of American whiskey making—and then pushing them even further.

We set out to create a bourbon with a radically different flavor profile from our flagship wheated expression, which has zero rye. With rye subbing in for wheat, Wilderness Trail Kentucky Straight High Rye Bourbon is a notably spicy, entirely novel experience for any discerning whiskey fan.

Our bourbon with high rye content in the mashbill offers a smooth flavor profile with pleasing spicey notes often associated with rye grains. Structured similarly to our wheated mashbill, our high rye mash bill is made up of 64 percent corn, 24 percent rye and 12 percent malted barley. The palate gives way to an oaky sweetness, providing a comforting warmth with hints of smoke and brambly red black fruits.
